The scientific background
Denmark and the U.S. have significant focus on research and development in the biotechnology field regarding food and agriculture. Therefore, The Trade Council of Denmark in the U.S.' has increased its efforts to support Danish companies in expanding their biotech solutions to the U.S. food and agriculture market.
The new mapping tool is based on a collaboration between Danish Technological Institute (DTI) and The Trade Council in North America. The collaboration has also resulted in the development of two studies, which have helped to gain a better understanding of the biosolutions industry.
The first study (prestudy) containing an in-depth patent analysis, indicates that companies from both Denmark and the U.S. tend to innovate within different areas, which makes the two countries very complementary in their patents. This is followed up by the report looking at how biotechnology can be applied across all parts in the value chain of the food and agricultural production: From the soil, to the plants, to the processing and production, and through the final food products we put on the table.
Please note that the reports from the study can be found in the 'Reports' section on the mapping tool website.
