Biggest trends in the North American energy transition

Renewable Energy

Investments in solar, wind, and other renewable technologies continues to grow, bolstered by supportive policies and a push for cleaner energy sources. In 2024, renewable energy projects, especially solar and offshore wind, are expected to have set record investments. Our Wind Energy Advisory, works with Danish companies across the value chain in the already booming renewables industry.

Green Hydrogen

Green hydrogen, produced using renewable energy, is a key part of the North American energy transition, particularly for heavy industry and transportation. As an energy carrier and storage solution, hydrogen supports grid stability, diversifies the energy portfolio, and enhances energy resiliency.
Along with CCU and CCS, hydrogen is gaining attention as a versatile energy carrier and is supported by significant investments and local policies. Through our Future Energies Alliance, we work to advance green hydrogen and create opportunities for Danish companies in North America within hydrogen production, CCU, and CCS.

Decarbonization

The push for decarbonization is intensifying across the energy value chain, with companies focusing on reducing emissions not just in energy generation but throughout their operations. This includes sourcing renewable power and using low-carbon materials, creating significant opportunities for positioning Danish technologies and experiences.

E-fuels

E-fuels, synthetic fuels made using renewable electricity, biomass or using Carbon Capture, are gaining traction as a way to decarbonize sectors that are difficult to electrify, such as aviation and shipping. The development of e-fuel technology is progressing as part of efforts to meet ambitious decarbonization goals in both Canada and the US. Our Maritime Advisory works closely with Danish companies to create market and partnerships opportunities within the e-fuel shipping space.
