Sustainable Buildings Alliance
Globally, buildings account for major shares of greenhouse gas emissions and energy consumption and have a profound impact on local communities and people’s wellbeing. The Sustainable Buildings Alliance was established by The Trade Council of Denmark in North America (TCNA) with the aim to support and accelerate the decarbonization and sustainable transformation of the North American building stock.
Through strategic collaboration between public and private stakeholders in Denmark and the USA and Canada, the SBA champions sustainable building transformation projects in the commercial buildings space, including private developments, offices, retail and mixed-use buildings, campuses and education buildings and municipally-owned infrastructure.
Denmark is known for being a frontrunner in sustainability through adopting ambitious climate policies. These policies focus on improving energy efficiency and reducing greenhouse gas emissions, including e.g. energy labeling of buildings. Energy efficiency is a key component for Denmark’s political ambition to be independent of fossil fuels in 2050, and Danish solution providers play an important part in making this a reality. Hence, TCNA is cooperating closely with green public and private organizations in Denmark to bring experience and solutions to the North American market.

The Sustainable Buildings Alliance adopts an open and collaborative approach to bringing innovative thinking and new ideas and solutions into play in the built environment. This means engaging in targeted and facilitated workshopping sessions and knowledge exchanges that are focused on specific building transformation projects, with the aim to share, inspire and identify at an early stage new opportunities for sustainability.
