MasterClass - Future of Work

Are you ready for the Future of Work? Innovation Centre Denmark Silicon Valley invites you to a specialised Masterclass.

New technologies are driving radical transformation across all types of companies and industries, and are rapidly changing the world of work, workers and organizations.

The world's leading tech companies are currently investing billions of dollars in Artificial Intelligence. In China, the first robotic dentist has already completed its first surgery, and in the next 20 years, 47% of jobs are estimated to be at risk of being automated. In 2020, 43% of US workers are estimated to work as freelancers and 82% of today's youth have already used YouTube as learning platform. In a future where technology is an integrated part of work - what will be the implications for people, organizations and society?

Innovation Centre Denmark invites you to apply for the Future of Work Master Class, a one-week intensive learning experience in Silicon Valley. In collaboration with the world's leading tech companies and research institutions, we will explore the opportunities and challenges of new technologies on the future of work. We are already talking to Google, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, Stanford, Berkeley, Udacity and Institute of the Future.

A week in Silicon Valley

The Future of Work Master Class will take place in Silicon Valley from the 3rd to 7th of June 2019.

The class will give you a deeper insight into the newest technologies shaping our future such as AI, robotics, blockchain, and VR/AR. You will be challenged on how the future workplace will look like, and together with like-minded leaders discuss what implication this will have on people and organizations. You will leave Silicon Valley with a new understanding of the discussions you need to have in your organization to be prepared for the future.

The class will be thought-provoking and reflective with focus on active learning, hands-on application and experimentation. It will involve discussions and networking with Danish peers and leading American technology pioneers. The class will explore five themes:

Trends and emerging technologies: This relatively recent interconnectedness that is fostered by technology has created innovative accessibility to international talent, marketplaces and knowledge. A more global access creates new possibilities for both individuals and organisations, while also representing new, as yet unaddressed, challenges for action.

The augmented employee: Technologies can automate a large amount of predictive, routine jobs, workers of the future can therefore no longer rely solely on quantifiable skills that are easily automated. These technological displacements will require that workers up-skill and learn to work with machines in order to remain significant on the job market.

Lifelong learning: rapid technological disruptions require that both leaders and workers adapt and continue to learn in order to maintain relevance to the job market. Continuous education or lifelong learning is a major path toward improving relevance and employability for all parties.

Future of leadership: Disruptive technologies only add to a more rapidly shifting workforce and an uncertain job market. This fragmentation of organisational structures brings unknown conditions for leaders, which increases the need for leaders to be equipped with the necessary tools and skills to lead effectively and connect seamlessly to this multitude of inter-related organisational layers.

Future Ethical Questions: While emerging technologies, such as automation, AI, and robotics are proving beneficial, they also raise difficult, ethical questions, because they disrupt entire industries, automate jobs and affect the nature of work itself.

A class for Decision Makers and Leaders

The master class is for decision makers and senior leaders who work within the fields of business development, strategy, industry policy making, leadership and recruitment. It is intended for you who want to help shape your organization's future.
